Pathways of Women’s Empowerment Middle East Hub is sponsoring the Changing Focus photography competition, intended to encourage local photographers in Egypt to visually present the exchanges between women and their communities and challenge photographers to change their focus, to creatively represent women’s empowerment.
Each candidate will submit images and a short written entry to the competition. Those submissions will be judged and twenty candidates will be selected to participate in a workshop on representing gender issues through art. The twenty candidates will then enter the second round of the competition. They will be asked to go out and take more photos keeping in mind the training they have received. They will also be asked to write a proposal about a photography project that they imagine doing. All candidates will have their images exhibited in a gallery. The grand prize winner will also receive 5000 EGP to carry out their dream photography project relating to women in Egypt.
Candidates must either be native to Egypt or have lived in Egypt for the past year
